Metro Catholic Alums win the National Grand Prize in the 2017 - 2018 Lexus Eco Challenge

May 23, 2018

Congratulations Joslyn Muniz, Jadalise Pacheco, Alicia Valladares and Esther Ngemba, Metro Catholic Class of 2014, for being part of Team Enerjagers that won the National Grand Prize in the Lexus Eco Challenge 2017-2018. (A national STEM competition)

The team worked for years to help the country's carbon footprint through the reuse of materials normally thrown away or have energy spent on recycling them. They created "Second Chance Candles". The candles use clear bread bags, made up of plastic #4, a material that is no longer recycled.

We congratulate Ingrid Cheung, Metro Catholic Class of 2014, who has received a full scholarship to Northwestern University through QuestBridge National College Match.

The competitive program selects high school Seniors who have shown outstanding excellence. From a pool of 15,606 applicants, from which QuestBridge chose 5,759 as finalists, 918 outstanding students were selected as this years College Match Scholarship Recipients based on their academic achievement and a variety of other factors.
