General MusicOur daily music instruction combines techniques of Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze. All students are exposed to a wide variety of kinesthetic, cognitive and existential musical experiences. Students are taught how to express themselves musically, understand the role of musical art as it relates to life, and make connections between music and other subjects. Fifth graders travel to the historic Severance Hall to enjoy a performance of the Cleveland Orchestra. Seventh and eighth graders experience the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. A variety of local professional musical artists have demonstrated their skills to our students as well. Beginning in 2012, fifth grade was divided into 3 groups that meet during the day: band, choir and general music. This grouping will continues next year and continue to grow over four years until it applies to everyone, 5th-8th grade.
