General Music

Our daily music instruction combines techniques of Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze.  All students are exposed to a wide variety of kinesthetic, cognitive and existential musical experiences.

Students are taught how to express themselves musically, understand the role of musical art as it relates to life, and make connections between music and other subjects.

Fifth graders travel to the historic Severance Hall to enjoy a performance of the Cleveland Orchestra. Seventh and eighth graders experience the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. A variety of local professional musical artists have demonstrated their skills to our students as well.

Beginning in 2012, Band was integrated into the school day.

Band

The Band Program began in 2012 and meets as a full group during music class, once a week. Additionally, they rehearse in small group sectionals in the mornings. Percussion instruments meet Tuesday morning, brass on Wednesday morning, and woodwinds on Thursday morning. Students are able to play flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion. This program exists due to generous musical instrument donations. If you are interested in donating to the music program, please contact Mrs. Amanda Miller at: amiller@metrocatholic.org or call Metro Catholic School 216 281 4044 X142.
