Drama Club Presents IN THE HOOD
Friday, May 04, 2018 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Metro Catholic Drama Club invites you to their production of In the Hood on Friday, May 4th at 6:00 pm in the Stephen Building Gym.
Feel the beat of this hip story about an urban community on the brink of ruin. The corner of 159th Street and 43rd Avenue is a lively neighborhood. Kids play hopscotch and adults take care of their business. There’s a rhythm to it all, led by neighborhood teens who keep the beat on plastic buckets. But kind, old Mr. Fineburg is in money trouble and is about to lose his neighborhood thanks to Mr. Guy Jantic. The greedy businessman is ready to purchase the property and threatens to turn the street into a state-of-the-art parking lot. Mr. Fineburg’s friends — including the junk shop owner who’s convinced he’s the long-lost son of the great magician Houdini, the ditzy acting teacher who longs for her days of glory on the stage, and the vegetable and fruit vendor who will throw you out the door if you insult her broccoli — get together with other residents to try to save their “hood.” It looks like they’re doomed to failure until that wonder of our age — modern social media — saves the day. You’ll love this heartwarming, triumphant tale of a neighborhood and its eclectic collection of people.
