Day of Hope Luncheon

The annual Humphrey event was held on Sunday, October 1st in historic St. Stephen Church.  The awardees this year were:  St. Barbara Parish ~ accepted by Fr. Forum for Catholic Formation and Education August 10, 2017

This years forum held in the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State was attended by hundreds of Catholic School educators, catechists and administrators.  Our own Sergio Harris, Grade 4, was a speaker on the importance of Catholic education and the Metro Catholic family in his life.

Living Our Theme ~ Connect - Respect - Protect

The students of Metro Catholic donated money to help victims of the terrible hurricanes during September. The goal was to collect $500 in the month of September. They have surpassed their goal, and have collected over $800.

Grant Received from the Office of Catechetical Formation & Education ~ Diocese of Cleveland

It has been a busy summer at Metro Catholic School.  We are grateful to the Office of Catechical Formation and Education at the Diocese of Cleveland for a grant received for assisting us with the cost of the following renovations:
NEW boys' bathroom on the 2nd floor
NEW carpeting in 3 classrooms
NEW lighting in all 3 buildings
TUCK POINTING on Stephen & Michael buildings
REPAIR of walls damaged by water
GUTTER repairs

Power of the Pen Winners

January 11, 2017

At the first gathering of the Power of the Pen contest on Saturday two Metro Catholic students excelled.  Of all the 7th graders from all over the city that entered this writing contest HALEY LEWIS came in 10th place and received a medal.  Of all the 8th graders EVERETT ALAN HOOD came in 11th place and also received a medal.  We congratulate them AND Ms. Coleman, their teacher who coordinates this activity.

More High School Scholarship News

In addition to the scholarship offered by Benedictine High School, EVERETT ALAN HOOD has also been offered $1,000/year from Villa Angela - St. Joseph High School.  This is worth $4,000 if Everett chooses to accept it.  NICHOLAS MORALES has received a $3,000/year scholarship to Padua High School.  This is worth $12,000! We continue to celebrate our students AND their teachers who have prepared them so well!

'12 Alum Jieming Tang Played his Final Concert with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra

May 11, 2016

Jieming Tang (Alum '12 - Sullivan Scholar) played his final concert on Sunday with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra at Severance Hall.  Jieming has been the orchestra concert master for the past two years.   During Sunday's concert Jieming was the featured soloist.  Next year Jieming will attend the Julliard School of Performing Arts in NYC. Congratulations to Chef Marlon Mayorga from Corleone's Restaurant for winning First Place in "Cleveland's Finest Hors d'Oeuvre Contest, an event supporting Our Lady of Wayside! Chef Mayorga and Mrs. Mayorga have two children currently attending Metro Catholic ~ Mia, Grade 6 and Mya, preschool. Thier son, Marlon, also attended Metro Catholic and now attends Cleveland Central Catholic High School.

New Recycling Bin at the Boniface Campus

February 12, 2016

We have received a new paper and cardboard recycling bin at the Boniface Campus parking lot! River Valley Paper Company will give money to our school for collecting or paper, cardboard, books, magazines. It will then be made into toilet paper, napkins and towels, copier paper, greeting cards, cardboard, insulation, and drywall! We invite you to bring paper from home. We need everyone's participation to reach the quota and keep our paper useful, rather than wasted! It is located in the West 52nd Street parking lot, close to the garage.

Neighborhood Connections Awards Grant

Giant Eagle Grant

The Giant Eagle Foundation once again assists the learning efforts here at Metro Catholic. This year's grant supports the "Closing the Gaps" program that provides services for students with learning needs. The grant also assists our English Language Learner Program that has added staff to support Sister Linda Marie with the 40 students in need of English Language support.
